Materials
Three common coverings
- EPDM rubber: one sheet on most house roofs, no flame to lay it.
- GRP fibreglass: hard, can be walked on, needs dry mild weather to cure.
- Torch-on felt: layers of bitumen sheet, the lowest price and the shortest life.
When a flat roof is replaced, ask about insulation above the deck (a warm roof), the fall to the outlet, and the upstand where it meets the house wall.
